Using the CSL Authenticated SMTP Server

Using the CSL Authenticated SMTP Server

If you are using Gmail, please see Using Gmail with CS Email Addresses

To use the CSL authenticated SMTP server with your mail client:

  1. Generate an email authentication token for the CS authenticated SMTP server: go to CSL Account Management and then “EMAIL TOKEN” in the top menu, and generate an email authentication token. The authenticated SMTP server does not use your CS password, only the generated email authentication tokens.

  2. Configure your mail client to the authenticated SMTP server

Use the following SMTP server information:

    • SMTP server: smtp-auth.cs.wisc.edu
    • username: your CS username (bbadger not bbadger@cs.wisc.edu)
    • password: the email authentication token generated in the previous step
    • If you need to select a port number/secured connection method, use TLS wth port 587
