Instructional Linux Computers

Instructional Linux Computers

Instructional Linux computers are available in the instructional Linux labs and via remote connections. Computers are named and numbered as follows:

  • rockhopper-01.cs.wisc.edu through rockhopper-09.cs.wisc.edu
  • royal-01.cs.wisc.edu through royal-30.cs.wisc.edu
  • snares-01.cs.wisc.edu through anares-10.cs.wisc.edu
  • emperor-01.cs.wisc.edu through emperor-07.cs.wisc.edu

There are two ways of accessing these Linux computers:

  1. SSH connection (provides a terminal window with optional X-window display support) The SSH fingerprints for all instructional linux computers are:

  2. RDP connection (provides a full desktop similar to the GNOME desktop as if one were logged in at the console of the computer)

Use of the Department VPN is required for RDP
