[UPDATE 9/14 5:00 PM] -
Both UWNet and Eduroam wireless services are fully operational with work continuing on the final resolution. Any individual reports of network connectivity problems should go to the Help Desk (264-4357).

[UPDATE 9/14 12:20pm]
The workaround implemented yesterday afternoon continues to work for most users of campus UWNet. However, reports have indicated some users are still experiencing issues with UWNet.

UW-Madison eduroam users can access uwnet and log in with their NetID and password. Those visiting the campus from other eduroam member institutions may only be able to access wireless with a guest account for UWNet.

Those having problems with wireless should report them to the Help Desk (264-4357) so they can not only be addressed but so we can also monitor the ongoing scope of the problems. Vendor techs are working on a permanent solution to restore all wireless options as soon as possible. In the meantime, please monitor outages.doit.wisc.edu http://outages.doit.wisc.edu for the latest updates.

[Update 9/13 12:40 PM] - The campus-wide wireless outage has not yet been resolved, although the impact has been further reduced. A temporary workaround for campus wireless has been implemented that will allow UWNet users to operate normally. Unfortunately, Eduroam users will continue to be impacted, but can choose to use UWNet while we continue to work to a complete resolution. We will provide updates as more information becomes available.

[Update 9/13 9:30 AM] - Please read the IT news article at the following link for more information about the outage:

[Update 9/13 7:35 AM] - No change in resolution status on wireless outage. Analysis by DoIT techs and our vendor continues and additional diagnosis capabilities have been installed. The issue subsides as traffic volume decreases as was last observed late Tuesday afternoon.

[Update 9/12 4:30 PM]
The campus-wide wireless outage impact has been reduced, but is still occurring with the apparent peak impact during class changes. We have made progress in isolating the problem and have reconfigured the network to minimize the effect on the entire campus.

If you experience issues with UW Eduroam or UWNet wireless service, please contact the DoIT Help Desk.

We will make every effort to mitigate any impact to campus wireless service as we work toward a complete resolution.

Thank you for your continued patience.

Our Network engineers continue to investigate the situation and are working with the vendor to find a resolution.

[Update 9/12 10:20 AM]
The campus-wide wireless outage is not yet resolved.

This outage is a random connectivity issue and may impact users on or off campus using UW Eduroam and UWNet wireless service. This outage could also affect some limited wired ports that use the same authentication process as the wireless. This would include the wired Hospitality Access Points in Chadbourne, Ogg, Smith and Phillips resident halls.

This problem has been escalated with our Vendor's Tech Support team. Our Network engineers continue to investigate the situation and are working with the vendor to find a resolution. They do not yet have an estimated time of repair. We will update you as more information becomes available. Thank you for your patience.
